The Romain College of Business along with聽缅北强奸鈥檚 Accounting Circle聽and the Accounting Circle鈥檚 Young Professionals hosted the second annual聽缅北强奸 High School Business Case Challenge. The event was held on Saturday, October 14, in the Business and Engineering Center. Students from Evansville North, Henderson County, and Princeton High School participated in the all-day event.
The teams analyzed a business case about a hypothetical company. Each school worked with mentors from the 缅北强奸 Accounting Circle and Young Professionals, and presented their solution to a panel of judges made up of faculty members, business professionals, and 缅北强奸 students. In the final round, the teams received an additional case to evaluate for the business, and after a brief time, presented new strategies to the judges.
North High School had the first place team, made up of seniors Halle Bowman and Cori Pendleton. Bowman and Pendleton split an award of $500, and North received $500 as the winning school. Teams from Princeton High School placed second and third in the case competition and received a plaque showing their designation.
The high school students had the opportunity to test their knowledge of business application and terminology in the individual competition. Joel Domsic, a senior from Henderson County High School, received a $1,000 scholarship to the Romain College for the highest score. Austin Stetter and Adam Robinson, seniors at Princeton High School, received a $500 scholarship and $250 scholarship for second and third places, respectively.
Key note speaker at the event was Mr. Greg Wathen, president and CEO of the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana. Discussion points included local economic development, talent acquisition, disruption, data collection & data mining, and the power of social media. He remarked that the three principles that guide their approach to economic development are inclusion, data, and purpose.聽聽聽聽聽 聽聽
The event was sponsored by the 缅北强奸 Accounting Circle, an advisory board to the Romain College made up of high-level accounting professionals from public accounting firms and from for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Their knowledge and experience assists the College in creating strategic curricula, developing relevant activities and programming and placing graduates.
