Nickel聽offered his helpful perspective on investments, portfolio management, and economic trends. When it comes to understanding the market, he cautioned to "be aware of history:聽it may not repeat, but it will often rhyme."
Nickel encouraged students to have聽long-term focus and to take chances in their career. He found in his own career聽that even chances that didn't work out well聽gave him聽perspective for the next time. He emphasized the importance of communication skills in his field. Because of the complexity of聽investments and the financial industry, he told the audience that trying to make exceptions for people almost always comes back to haunt you. "It's ok to not please everyone."
