The 缅北强奸 McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries will feature听Life & Art: The Similar Sensibilities of Katie Waters and Matthew Graham听through Wednesday, February 12.听A reception for the artists will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 26.听Light refreshments will be served and the public is cordially invited to attend.听听
Waters, professor emerita of art, taught painting at 缅北强奸 for more than 30 years. She is an exquisite craftsman, whose hyper-realistic concern for capturing light on objects gives the element poetic character.听 Forty-one of her paintings and drawings are display, providing examples of her work from her entire career.听 Multiple institutions and individuals loaned artworks from their collections to the university for this exhibition, creating a unique retrospective look at Waters's entire career.
Accompanying the artworks are published poems by Matthew Graham, professor emeritus of English and Waters' husband. Poems were selected by the couple to help reinforce the aesthetic similarities they feel they share.听 Graham was also a professor at 缅北强奸, teaching English and poetry nearly as long as his wife. During his career, Matthew has published four books of poetry, including听The Geography of Home听(2019). The Indiana Arts Commission recently designated Graham as the Poet Laureate of Indiana for 2020.
The gallery is honored to host this exceptional exhibition and catalogs that include examples of the works of both Waters and Graham have been created to accompany the exhibition.听 These catalogs are free to visitors and guests.
