The University is excited to announce no increases in medical premiums for the 2024 plan year while the national benchmark indicates that the average increase for medical premiums this year is roughly 7%!听

Additionally, over the last five years, the University has only increased employee premiums twice, 1.5% in 2021 and 2.5% in 2023, while the national benchmark average showed a 22% increase in premiums over the last five years.

In reviewing national benchmark data and with healthcare costs projected to continue to rise by another estimated 7% in 2024, the University has diligently researched ways to optimize medical plan designs to improve future cost control while maintaining or enhancing the level of medical care employees and their families receive. As a result, the University has opted to make a change in healthcare providers.听

Effective January 1, 2024, the University鈥檚 healthcare network will be UnitedHealthcare instead of Anthem. UnitedHealthcare has the largest proprietary provider network with over 1.2 million providers, over 5,400 hospitals, and 2,300 convenient care clinics. UMR and Surest will be the two third party administrators under UnitedHealthcare that will process claims and provide customer service for members. UMR and Surest provide exceptional customer service support.

  • Network: Deaconess and St. Vincent will both continue to be in-network. Confirm if your current provider is in-network by going to听 going to听, click on 鈥渇ind a network鈥, 鈥淢edical Directory鈥 鈥淓mployer and Individual plans鈥 and then choose the听Choice Plus听network.
  • Disruption: 听Overall, very minor disruption in service is expected, with the exception of chiropractors. If disruption does occur, the UnitedHealthcare plan will provide continuity of care for approved conditions at the in-network benefit level for up to 90 days. Employees who believe they will experience a disruption in service should reach out to the 缅北强奸 benefits team, after reviewing all Open Enrollment information.
  • Pre-existing conditions will continue to be covered with no waiting period.
  • Core PPO plan: Deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, and maximum out鈥搊f-pocket maximums for Core PPO plan remain unchanged. After January 1, 2024, to view claims information members will go to .
  • HSA PPO plan: The HSA plan will not experience any changes due to the move to UnitedHealthcare. Coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximums remain unchanged. Due to IRS requirements, deductibles will increase by $200 to $3,200 for individual coverage, and by $400 to $6,400 for family coverage. After January 1, 2024, to view claims information members will go to .
  • Prescription Plan: The prescription plan will continue through CVS Caremark with no changes to benefits, except the regular formulary changes.

With the transition to the UnitedHealthcare network, in addition to the traditional PPO/Core and HSA plans, the University is offering a third medical plan option called Surest. Surest is a co-pay only plan with no deductible, and no coinsurance where prices can be seen in advance of seeking care. Co-pays will vary depending on the provider selected. The more efficient/effective care providers (aka 鈥渉igh-value provider鈥), the lower the copay will be. Prices are available by searching the app or website to compare options with the national UnitedHealthcare provider network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and virtual providers.听

To preview benefit co-pays for different services and see if your doctor is in-network go to and use code: Indiana2024. You will get an email to verify your email address and then you can search the site.

    • Cost Clarity, members know the cost of services with clear upfront prices that members can easily understand via app, web, or phone.
    • Savings opportunities for members to pay less for higher value treatments and providers, with dynamic copays.
    • Dynamic copays 鈥 Surest uses data from UnitedHealthcare鈥檚 large network of providers to develop copays that save members money when they choose a provider (doctor or facility) with positive outcomes. This can mean less time in the hospital or fewer re-admissions.
    • After January 1, 2024, to view claims information members will go to . 听
    • Surest uses the same UnitedHealthcare Network.
    • The Surest plan鈥檚 prescription coverage will be through CVS Caremark.
