John McNaughton is an internationally acclaimed artist noted for creating wood sculptures and furniture designs that stretch the limits of imagination. He taught woodworking and three dimensional design at the 缅北强奸 for thirty-five years. His work is represented in over 300 private, corporate, and museum collections, including The Smithsonian and the White House Craft Collection, and has been featured in numerous books and magazines.

Poetry

鈥淧antoum for Fallujah鈥� & 鈥淎t a Kitchen Table鈥濃�擬ichael Walls is a听labor lawyer and听environmental听activist who lives in Atlanta. His听poems have appeared in a variety of journals and magazines including听New York Quarterly,听Atlanta Review,听Many Mountains Moving,听Free Lunch, and听Cumberland Poetry Review. His chapbook,听The Blues Singer, was the 2003 Frank Cat Press chapbook contest winner.听

鈥淪piritus Mundi鈥濃�斺�檚听collection of poems,听Beautiful Trouble, won the 2003 Crab Orchard First Book Award and was published by Southern Illinois University Press in 2004. Her poems have appeared in听The American Life in Poetry,听Prairie Schooner,听Southern Poetry Review,听North American Review, and听The Southeast Review, among others. She is an associate professor of English at Washburn University.听

鈥淲hen Spring Melts the Ground鈥濃�斕齢as just published听The Licorice Daughter: My Year with Ruffian听(Texas Review Press) and听Another Woman Who Looks Like Me听from Black Sparrow at Godine. Her two previous Black Sparrow books,听Cold Comfort听补苍诲听Before it鈥檚 Light, won Paterson Review Awards. She is working on a book about the amazing, beloved Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro.

鈥溑�iganca鈥� & 鈥淟ittle George鈥濃�斕齢as published eight books of poetry, including听Darling Vulgarity听(BOA Editions, 2006), nominated for a 2007 Los Angeles Times Poetry Book Award, and听Parthenopi: New and Selected Poems听(BOA Editions, 2001). He has edited/co-edited several volumes, including听Contemporary American Poetry听(Houghton Mifflin, 2006). The recipient of a Fellowship in Creative Writing from the National Endowment for the Arts and three Pushcart Prizes, he has published poems in numerous journals, including听Poetry,听The Yale Review,听The American Poetry Review,听Rolling Stone,听The Kenyon Review,听The Southern Review,听The Gettysburg Review,听The Georgia Review,听The North American Review, and听Ploughshares.

鈥淲estern Nightmare鈥濃�擝ernd Sauermann is an associate professor of literature, composition, and film at Hopkinsville Community College in Hopkinsville, KY. He received his M.A. and M.F.A. in 1993 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. He makes his home in Cadiz, KY.

鈥淚n the Light Provided by the Baltimore News鈥� & 鈥淔ear鈥濃�擯amela Garvey has published poetry and short stories in many literary journals including听The North American Review,听Pleiades,听Sonora Review,听Spoon River Poetry Review, and others. In 2003, she was a semi-finalist for the 鈥淒iscovery鈥�/The Nation poetry award; most recently she won the 2006 poetry award from听Words and Pictures Magazine. She is an Assistant Professor of English at St. Louis Community College-Meramec and lives in the city of St. Louis with her husband and son.

鈥淭he Cruelest Month鈥濃�斕齬ecent books of poems include听Beholding Eye听(Custom Words, 2006) and听Retreats & Recognitions听(Lost Horse Press, 2007: winner of the Idaho Poetry Prize). She is also co-editor (with Julie Kane) of听Umpteen Ways of Looking at a Possum: Critical and Creative Responses to Everette Maddox听(Xavier Review Press, 2006).

鈥淪estina: Family Album鈥濃�擱ose Bromberg of Riverdale, NY, has published fiction and poetry in several journals including听The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine;听The Healing Muse听(SUNY Upstate Medical University);听Jewish Women鈥檚 Literary Annual; and听Poetica. She is currently working on two projects: one combines her interests in poetry and medicine, the other combines her poetry and photography.

鈥淚ndependence Day鈥濃�擬atthew Brennan is a professor of English at Indiana State University. His poems have appeared recently in听South Dakota Review,听Sewanee Review,听Blue Unicorn,听Westview, and听Poet Lore. Another poem, 鈥淒owntown at Dusk,鈥� was selected for the Indy Arts Council's public art project that places poems on city buses. His collection of poems听The House with the Mansard Roof听is forthcoming from The Backwaters Press.

鈥淎 Fine Camel鈥檚 Hair Brush鈥� & 鈥淢ermaid鈥濃�擩effrey Thomson鈥檚听third book of poems, Renovation, was part of the Carnegie Mellon University Press poetry series in 2005, and his second,听The Country of Lost Sons, was published by Parlor Press at Purdue University in February 2004.听 His first book,听The Halo Brace, was brought out by Birch Brook Press in 1998.听 He was awarded a 2005 Literature Fellowship in Poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts and a 2006 Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Individual Artists Fellowship. Thomson is currently an assistant professor of creative writing in the BFA program at the University of Maine Farmington.

鈥淧astoral: New Harmony鈥� & 鈥淔ebruary Prayer for a Roofless鈥濃�擜llison Joseph teaches at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she also serves as an editor for听Crab Orchard Review听and directs the Young Writers Workshop, a summer workshop for high school writers. She is the author of five collections of poetry:听What Keeps Us Here听(winner of the 1992 Ampersand Press Women Poets Series Competition);听Worldly Pleasures听(2003 winner of the Word Press Poetry Prize);听Soul Train;听In Every Seam; and听Imitation of Life.

鈥淧laying Tennis with the Net Down鈥濃�擜bayomi Animashaun鈥檚 poems have appeared in such places as听New Orphic Review,听Drunken Boat,听Guardian, and听Rock & Sling. He has also served as a staff editor for the听Red Rock Review.

鈥淲illows鈥濃�擱odney Jones is a professor of English at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He was recently awarded the 2007 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award for听Salvation Blues: One Hundred Poems, 1985-2005, his eighth book of poetry. Jones was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the winner of a National Book Critics Circle Award, a Southeast Booksellers Association Award, and a Harper Lee Award.

Fiction

Mary C. Mohr Short Fiction Award First Prize Winner: 鈥淒ecadence鈥濃�擠ana Kinstler鈥檚 short stories have been published in a number of literary journals. Her essays have recently appeared in听My Father Married Your Mother: Writers Talk about Stepparents, Stepchildren, and Everyone in Between;听Mr. Wrong;听Stella Magazine; and the听London Telegraph. Kinstler lives in the Hudson River Valley, New York, and is working on a novel.

Mary C. Mohr Short Fiction Award Second Prize Winner: 鈥淔orms of Life鈥擪ansas, 1957鈥濃�擬ark Lindensmith lives and works in Virginia, where he is a lawyer and, sometimes, a writer. He and his wife, Gaytha, have six children. He is the author of the short story collection,听Short-Term Losses听(Southern Methodist University Press, 1996), and his fiction has appeared in journals such as听Another Chicago Magazine,听South Dakota Review,听New Letters, and听Wind Magazine. He was the 2005 winner of the Chicago Literary Award for short fiction.

Mary C. Mohr Short Fiction Award Third Prize Winner: 鈥淔all Down Seven Times, Stand Up Eight鈥濃�擬arika Lindholm recently resigned from Northwestern University, where she taught sociology for thirteen years and published several articles on gender, race, and political organizing. Her energy is now devoted to fiction writing, organic farming, and raising four children. She and her husband are impatiently waiting to bring home a second child from Ethiopia. Her first story was published last spring in听Silent Voices.

鈥淭he View from Outside鈥濃�擩ennifer S. Davis, a native of Alabama, is the author of听Her Kind of Want, winner of the Iowa Award for Short Fiction. Her stories have been published in such magazines as听The Paris Review,听The Georgia Review,听Grand Street,听The Oxford American听and in the anthology of original short fiction by women,听This Is Not Chick Lit. Her second collection of short stories,听Our Former Lives in Art, will be published by Random House in July, 2007. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Colorado at Denver.

For the past five years Razor has been an administrator at the 缅北强奸, and in December 2006 he earned his PhD in Higher Education Administration from Indiana State University.
