Poetry

"In a Foreign City"鈥Amy Fleury's听collection of poems,听Beautiful Trouble, won the 2003 Crab Orchard First Book Award and was published by Southern Illinois University Press in 2004. Her poems have appeared in听The American Life in Poetry,听Prairie Schooner,听Southern Poetry Review,听North American Review, and听The Southeast Review, among others. She is an associate professor of English at McNeese State University.听

"Love Note"鈥E.G. Burrows听was born in Texas, lived and worked in New England, Michigan, and Wisconsin before moving to Washington state. His poetry collections include听The Arctic Tern,听Man Fishing,听Kiva, and听The House of August, as well as numerous chapbooks, including听Handsigns for Rain听补苍诲听Sailing as Before. His poems have appeared in听The American Poetry Review,听Poetry,听Margie,听Gettysburg Review, and many other journals.

"Love and Rummy" & "Audrey Hepburn & the Westerns"鈥Vandana Khannawas born in New Delhi, India, and received her MFA from Indiana University. Her collection of poetry,听Train to Agra, won the 2000 Crab Orchard Review First Book Prize. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in听Crazyhorse,听Callaloo, and听The Atlanta Review, among others. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.听

"At Home with the Croghans, Locust Grove, December 8, 1820"鈥擫ynnell Edwards听is the author of two books of poetry:听The Highwayman's Wife听(2007) and听The Farmer's Daughter听(2003), both from Red Hen Press. Her work has appeared on听Verse Daily听and in the anthologies听Poets Against the War;听Raising Our Voices: Oregon Poets Against the War; and听Letters to the World: Poems from the Wom-Po listserve, as well as literary journals including:听Poems & Plays,听Smartish Pace,听Southern Poetry Review,听Poetry East, and听Dos Passos Review.

"Son of a Brothel"鈥Sara Stripling听just finished her third year in the MFA program in Creative Writing at the University of Arkansas. In 1998, she received her BS in secondary English education from Indiana University and then moved to New York City. In 2003, she returned to Bloomington, Indiana, where there were more trees. She currently lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with her husband and two cats.

"奥辞耻苍诲"鈥Corinne Wohlford Taff听lives in Saint Louis, Missouri. She teaches American culture studies and English and directs interdisciplinary programs at Fontbonne University. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the听Grolier Poetry Prize Annual,听Plainsongs,听Pleaides,听Margie,听Harvard Review,听Georgetown Review,听Quercus Review,听Flint Hills Review, and听Alabama Literary Review.

"Afternights"鈥擥reg McBride听won the 2008 Boulevard Emerging Poet prize. His chapbook,听Back of the Envelope, is published by听, and his work appears in听Bellevue Literary Review,听Connecticut Review,听Gettysburg Review,听Hollins Critic,听Salmagundi,听Southeast Review,听Southern Poetry Review, and elsewhere. A Vietnam veteran, he began writing after a thirty-year legal career and now edits听.

"Switch Grass/Big Bluestem"鈥Heather Lee Schroeder听is a free-lance writer and journalist who lives in Madison, Wisconsin. Her twice-monthly column, Literary Lunch, appears in听The Capital Times. She received her master of fine arts degree in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She currently is an assistant visiting professor of journalism at Beloit College.

"When it Rains"鈥Andrea Gilham听received her MFA from Vermont College. She is currently teaching high school English in Evansville, Indiana.

"In the Sculpture Garden"鈥Lee Rossi's听most recent book is听Ghost Diary听(Terrapin Press, 2003). His poetry, reviews, essays, and interviews have appeared widely in such journals as听The Sun,听Poetry East,听Nimrod,听Green Mountains Review,听Spoon River Poetry Review,听The Beloit Poetry Journal, and听pedestal. He lives in San Carlos, California.

"Passing through Flint" & "The Price of Exhuming the Dead"鈥攊s the poetry editor at听Mannequin Envy. He is the author of听Rise, Fall and Acceptance听(MSR Publishing, 2006) and听Thirst听(Codhill Press, 2007). His poetry has appeared in听The Connecticut Review,听Rattle,听The Evansville Review,听厂辞耻鈥檞别蝉迟别谤,听The New York Quarterly, and many other journals.听

"Saturday Night, Drunk but Sobering"鈥Doug Ramspeck听directs the Writing Center and teaches creative writing and composition at The Ohio State University at Lima. His book,听Black Tupelo Country, was awarded the 2007 John Ciardi Prize for Poetry and is published by BkMk Press. He lives in Lima with his wife, Beth, and their eighteen-year-old daughter, Lee.听

"Plants and Cats"鈥Jesse Mountjoy听is a practicing attorney in Owensboro, Kentucky, specializing in tax law and estate planning. He has published poems in听Open 24 Hours,听Flint Hills Review,听Wind Magazine,听The Sow's Ear Poetry Review, the听Kentucky Poetry Review,听Adena,听Approaches,听The Small Pond Review, and the听Exquisite Corpse. A number of his poems have appeared in the 2006, 2008 and 2009 poetry/fiction issues of听Legal Studies Forum听(West Virginia University College of Law). He is fond of Flaubert's assertion that 鈥淓very lawyer carries within himself the debris of a poet.鈥澨

"Listening Between Stations"鈥Mary Lou Buschi听lives in New York City and is a graduate of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. Mary Lou teaches in the Paul McGhee Division of New York University. Her poems have appeared in听Indiana Review,听Italian Americana, and the听Red River Review, among others.听

"Rock Garden"鈥Patricia Giragosian鈥檚听poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in听The Connecticut Review,听The New Hampshire Review,听The Boston Globe,听Louisiana Literature,听The Classical Outlook, and other publications. A collection of her poems, to be published next year in Boston, received the Finalist Award in the 2005 Poetry Chapbook Competition of Bright Hill Press, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.听

"贬别补诲蝉迟辞苍别蝉"鈥Joe Wilferth听teaches English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is passionate about his family, his students, and the land surrounding his home in southeast Missouri.听

"Obituary, In-Depth"鈥Dan Carpenter听is an editorial page staffer with听The Indianapolis Star. He has published poetry and fiction in听Illuminations,听Pearl, Maize,听Tipton Poetry Journal,听Laurel Review, and other journals.听

"From听Father Dirt," "Phone Call from Romania," & "Watching My Son in the Bathtub, Thinking of Sixteen-Year-Old Mara"鈥擟ontributing editor听Mihaela Moscaliuc鈥檚听poetry manuscript听Father Dirt听won the 2008 Kinereth Gensler Award at Alice James Books. Her co-translations of Romanian poetry appear in听Arts & Letters,听Mississippi Review,听Connecticut Review,听Mid-American Review, and elsewhere. Other publications include articles in听Soundings: An Interdisciplinary Journal and History of the Literary Cultures in East-Central Europe听(2005) and听Interculturality and Translation听(2007); book reviews in听TriQuarterly,听Prairie Schooner,听Georgia Review,听Fugue, and听Poetry International; and poems in听Great River Review,听Near East Review,听Crab Orchard Review,听New Letters,听The English Record, and听Meridians.

Essays

"Stephen Pace: Then and Now"鈥Margaret Skoglund听is an associate professor of art history at the 缅北强奸. She specializes in inter-cultural relationships between Spain and Italy from the Medieval through the Baroque periods. Her PhD in art history and archeology is from the University of Missouri.听

"Rolling with the Punchlines: The New American Humorous Essay"鈥擟ontributing editor Brenda DeMartini鈥檚 stories and poems have appeared in Confrontation, Kansas Quarterly, Minnesota Review, Mississippi Mud, the Sun, and Three Rivers Poetry Journal. 听

"Goose and Gander"鈥, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is an MFA candidate at the University of Alabama where he鈥檚 served as nonfiction editor and assistant fiction editor for听Black Warrior Review. He is also the editor of听You Must Be This Tall To Ride, which will be published by Writer鈥檚 Digest Books in May 2009. He鈥檚 published or has work forthcoming in听Barrelhouse,听Mid-American Review,听DIAGRAM,听Fugue,听The Bellingham Review,听Hobart, and听Memorious, among others.听

"Memory Shop"鈥Patrick Hicks听is Writer-in-Residence at Augustana College, and his work has appeared in scores of international publications including听Ploughshares,听TheUtne Reader,听Commonweal,听The National Catholic Reporter,听Poetry East,听Nimrod, and many others. He is the author of听Traveling Through History听(2005),听Draglines听(2006), and听The Kiss that Saved My Life听(2007). Several poems from his forthcoming collection,听The Gossamer, have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Aside from being a Visiting Fellow at Oxford and winning a variety of grants to support his work, he has lived in Northern Ireland, England, Germany, and Spain. He currently lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he enjoys thunderstorms rolling across the prairie.

"Conversations with Stephen Pace"鈥擜ssociate professor of art history听Hilary Braysmith听joined the 缅北强奸 faculty in 1989; she holds a PhD in the history of art from Ohio State University.听Kathryn Waters听is a professor of art at the 缅北强奸 and has been awarded an Arts Midwest National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and two Indiana Arts Commission Fellowships. She has been selected for artist residencies at Yaddo, the Ragdale Foundation, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Clowes Painting Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center. Her paintings and drawings have been exhibited widely and appear in corporate, private, public and museum collections nationally and internationally.

Fiction

"笔补谤迟颈别蝉"鈥Maggie Mitchell's听fiction has appeared in听Green Mountains Review, the American Literary Review, the Saranac Review, and elsewhere. Her collection of short stories has been a finalist for the Ohio State University Short Fiction Award and Eastern Washington University Press鈥檚 Spokane Prize. She teaches English at the University of West Georgia.

"The View From Here"鈥Pam Binning Pearce听grew up in Oklahoma but has lived most of her adult life in Arkansas. She earned an MA in English from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. She and her husband have two grown sons.
